Enabling NFC with my Xathari Tracking Link
How to Program an NFC Tag With Your Xathari Tracking Link
NFC tags make it easy for customers to tap their phone and instantly open your Xathari tracking link. This guide walks you through writing your shortened Xathari URL (example:https://go.xathari.com/static/tracking?t=ABC123XYZ)onto any NFC tag using a mobile app.
What You’ll Need
- A smartphone with NFC support
- A blank NFC tag (NTAG213, NTAG215, or NTAG216 recommended)
- An NFC writing app
- iOS: NFC Tools, NXP TagWriter, Simply NFC
- Android: NFC Tools, NXP TagWriter, Trigger
- Your Xathari short tracking URL
Step 1 — Install an NFC Writing App
Download any NFC writing app from the App Store or Google Play.We recommend NFC Tools because it works consistently across iOS and Android.
Step 2 — Open the App and Select “Write”
Most NFC apps have two main sections:
- Read — scan an existing tag
- Write — program a new tag
Choose Write.
Step 3 — Add a New Record
Select Add a record → URL / Web Address.
This tells the app you want the tag to open a website when tapped.
Step 4 — Enter Your Xathari Tracking Link
Paste your unique Xathari short URL, for example:
Code
https://go.xathari.com/static/tracking?t=ABC123XYZ
This is the link that will fire your tracking event and redirect users to your destination page.
Step 5 — Write the Tag
Tap Write in the app, then hold your phone near the NFC tag.
- iPhone: hold the top edge of the phone near the tag
- Android: hold the back of the phone near the tag (usually center or top)
You’ll see a confirmation message when the write is successful.
Step 6 — Test Your NFC Tag
Tap your phone to the tag again. It should immediately open your Xathari tracking link in the browser.
If it doesn’t:
- Make sure NFC is enabled on your device
- Try holding the phone closer or at a different angle
- Confirm the tag is not locked or write‑protected
Optional: Locking the Tag
Most NFC apps allow you to lock the tag after writing.
⚠️ Important: Locking is permanent.Only lock the tag once you’re sure the URL is correct.
How NFC Works With Xathari
When someone taps the tag:
- Their phone opens your Xathari short URL
- Xathari logs the scan event
- GA4 receives your qr_scan event
- The user is redirected to your final destination page
This works exactly like a QR code — just tap instead of scan.
